Families of athletes playing in next week’s national-championship game in college football will be allowed to receive up to $3,000 to travel to the game, according to a news release from the NCAA.
The association cleared the way for the College Football Playoff to reimburse families for travel expenses, and also said it would allow similar payments for the men’s and women’s college-basketball championships, held in the spring. The NCAA will pay up to $3,000 to families of players who advance to the Final Four semifinals but don’t win. For players who advance to the championships, the association will pay up to $4,000 in expenses.
