Your article about Kaplan University’s nutrition-science program (“Former Students Accuse Kaplan of Misleading Them About Accreditation,” The Chronicle, March 17) failed to point out that Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education accreditation is only required if a student wants to become a registered dietitian. There are many other certifications that our nutrition-science graduates can pursue, such as Certified Health Education Specialist, Certified Dietary Manager, and Certified Food Protection Professional. In fact, many of our graduates are successfully working in food-service management, nutrition, and pharmaceutical and other research careers.
