Edward Waters College, in Jacksonville, Fla., has had its accreditation revoked two months after an investigation by a local newspaper revealed that the institution had plagiarized large parts of a document submitted to the accrediting agency.
Edward Waters, which has struggled against various setbacks in recent years, said it would appeal the decision. “This appears to be, and is, a state of emergency,” Jimmy R. Jenkins Sr., the president, told a half-hour, standing-room-only meeting of faculty members and students on campus last week. “But it’s not the end. This is a new beginning.”
