'West Wing' Writer Is Working on Movie About Facebook

Aaron Sorkin, creator of “The West Wing,” is working on a Hollywood film about Facebook, and he’s started a Facebook group asking users to help explain the culture of the social network to him.

“I honestly don’t know how this works, which is why I’m here,” the message posted to the group from Mr. Sorkin says. “If anyone has any comments I’m glad to listen. And if anyone has any Facebook stories I think they might be helpful.”

It seems like a possible hoax, but an article in The Los Angeles Times said the Sorkin film about Facebook is actually in the works.

The group has attracted more than 700 comments from a variety of Facebook users. Some of them wonder which actor should play Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder. (Martin Sheen was one suggestion.) Some ask Mr. Sorkin to be their Facebook friend. Others worry that the online network might not play well on the big screen (“what a boring film!!!!!” one user wrote).—Jeffrey R. Young

  1. If he knows nothing about facebook why does he want to write a movie about it?

  2. The movie can show what a lying cheat that the founder Mark Zuckerberg is. And yes, it would be kind of boring, but maybe it should be a TV movie. Being a movie, there would have to be a love triangle involved, bitter friendships, one sided characters, and of course how Facebook has changed the world. This could only be good for Facebook, getting so much exposure. But still a stupid idea for a movie. Hey, why not make a movie about MS Windows, or Mac OS X? Without those platforms and computers in general, people wouldn’t be using Facebook…..
