Louisiana System Woos John Lombardi

The Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors was expected late last week to select John V. Lombardi as the university system's new chancellor.

Mr. Lombardi, the outspoken chancellor of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, was the only candidate recommended to the board by its presidential-search committee.
