Indian College Head Quits Under Fire

The head of an Indian university has resigned after a panel found that he had engaged in "word-by- word" plagiarism of a paper by a physics professor at Stanford University.

But as he left the vice chancellorship of Kumaun University, in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, Balwant Singh Rajput insisted that he had done nothing wrong and vowed to appeal the finding.
