Federal Judge Approves Settlement of Desegregation Lawsuit in Mississippi

A federal judge has approved a $503-million plan to settle Mississippi's college-desegregation lawsuit, but the 27-year-old dispute may yet linger on, as lawyers for some of the plaintiffs have vowed to continue fighting the plan.
