NOTES ON THESE DATA

This database shows the tuition and required fees at more than 3,100 colleges and universities in the academic years 2007-8 and 2008-9 as well as earlier years.

For 2008-9, charges for both state residents and out-of-state residents are listed. The 2007-8 figures cover state residents only.

The figures represent charges to first-time, full-time undergraduates based, typically, on a nine-month academic year of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours. An asterisk (*) indicates that an institution provided projected figures for 2008-9. The designation "n/a" indicates that figures for tuition and fees were not available.

The data do not reflect the cost of attendance at an institution after grants and other financial aid are considered. This net cost is often lower than the published prices shown.

The figures were collected as part of the College Board's Annual Survey of Colleges 2008. Copyright © 2008 The College Board. This material may not be copied, published, rewritten or redistributed without permission.
