Case Study Snapshots

Santa Barbara Business College

Established in 1888, Santa Barbara Business College is one
of the oldest vocational colleges in the U.S. Specializing in business, medical, legal, and technical field programs of study, SBBC needed faster and easier access to information with which to manage multiple locations and execute the directorÕs growth plans. "We decided to make an investment in a broadly used and supported commercial software," said SBBC's vice president Matthew A. Johnston. Campus Management Corp.'s CampusVue software proved to be the answer.

Challenge

  • Previous software solution outdated, no information-sharing or dynamic components.
  • Increase performance by serving daily operational needs more efficiently and effectively.
  • Enable management to support four campuses, growth, customer service.
  • Streamline workflows involving physical and electronic documents.

Solution: SBBC selected CampusVue:

  • Broad and deep workflow and operational capabilities.
  • Offers ease of use and configurability.
  • Comprehensive services for managing implementation.

Results

  • Dramatic reduction of embedded manual processes, spreadsheets, binders, and other physical documents.
  • Delivery of superb customer service via easier-to-manage information.
  • Rapid implementation in 2 months.

"We continue to find nuggets of capability within the software and have committed to it by discouraging embedded manual processes, spreadsheets, binders, and so forth, only to find that CampusVue—configured and used properly—can do it better," said Johnston.

A large and fast-growing provider of private, for-profit post secondary education, Career Education Corp. includes 81 schools, colleges, and universities. CEC, which focuses on preparing students for careers in visual communication and design technologies, information technology, business studies, culinary arts, and healthcare, was gearing up for rapid growth. The company's strategic plan called for growth to 80,000 students and more than $1 billion in revenue; to achieve this goal CEC executives were in need of a centralized database and administrative strategy to make configuration, management, and maintenance more efficient. CEC selected Campus Management Corp.'s CampusVue software because its integrated modules spanned all their schools' functional areas.

Challenge

  • Increase the speed of accessing information.
  • Achieve consistency of information across all systems.
  • Implement systems rapidly, to help enable school's rapid growth.
  • Position school for growth in competitive markets for traditional and
    online education.

Solution: CampusVue administrative suite chosen for its:

  • Ability to support all functional areas.
  • SQL and thin-client architecture.
  • Power and depth, enabling staff to manage workflows in support of
    servicing students.

Results

  • Single-login access across all campuses.
  • Uniformity of definitions across all campuses.
  • Implemented at 48 existing campuses in 13 months and 23 new sites in 90 days.
  • Instantly brings new applications online to 70+ campuses.

According to CEC's Vice President of Business Applications Margaret Matthei, CampusVue's design "eliminated the need for technical application support at the schools. We were able to take the IT resources we had at the school and redirect them to focus on our customer, the student, instead of on an application."
