"Some college administrators seem so distracted with fund raising, academic infighting, and community initiatives that they set up their emergency communications departments very poorly. Training is poor to nonexistent, secretaries are pressed into service with tremendous responsibilities for running 'notification systems' 24/7 and on weekends because no one else knows how to do it and the administration won’t pay for additional staff. Procedures are seat-of-the-pants and dependent on HIPPO (highest paid person’s opinion), except when something like Virginia Tech happens and there is some sort of scramble to do something different." --Donna Most Colleges Avoid Risk Management, Report Says

The job-search company announced the site’s arrival today at the annual conference of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, in Seattle. The new Web site includes an “ask an expert” feature where high schoolers and their parents can pose questions to a panel including Andrew Flagel, George Mason University’s dean of admissions, and Mark Kantrowitz, founder of FinAid, a popular financial-aid Web site that is also part of the Monster network. Beginning in November, the new site will also run top-10 lists of colleges for different majors, based on input from users of Admissions.com and other Monster Web sites. —Beckie Supiano Posted on Wednesday September 24, 2008 | Permalink |Comments

I am a bit disappointing actually. I thought finally there is a centralized site to let students apply colleges online. Isn’t that what Monster does? Let you post your credential, and recruiters can search and pick. Wouldn’t it be nice if you only need to fill out one application form to apply all schools in the country? People applied college or graduate schools before know how much time you have to spend to fill the application form for each school.

Terry I thought the same thing. I think it is smart on their part, and they will have people that can search for job placement 4y ears from now. It will be interesting to see what happens with this after a few cycles
