The awards would go to local students who attend the University of Akron or one of the city’s trade schools. Mayor Don Plusquellic told the Associated Press that the plan would help keep talented students from leaving town after graduating from high school. It’s fools gold. It is simply a capitalization. The City could do it by themselves, and more effciently, using tax exempt munis to set up an authority.
