Will Be Retried Next SpringThe ousted president of Texas Southern University, Priscilla D. Slade, will get her day in court, again. A jury deadlocked in her two-month financial-mismanagement trial, which ended in a mistrial last week. But a judge has ruled that Ms. Slade will be retried in March, the Houston Chronicle reported. If she is eventually convicted, she would face punishments ranging from probation to life in prison for allegedly misusing large sums of money at the cash-strapped university. Prosecutors are likely to again describe for jurors Ms. Slade’s expenses, such as a $100,000 bar tab or a $40,000 set of china. —Paul Fain Posted on Friday October 19, 2007 | Permalink |Comments

People go to death row in Texas due to inadequate legal representation, but the taxpayers must pay for a second trial because jurors couldn’t determine that Slade’s egregious actions constitute financial mismanagement? Absurd doesn’t even begin to cover it…

Honestly, the lady doesn’t work there anymore, and the board has been let go for their incompetence and lack of fudiciary responsibility. Wasting taxpayer money on this is ridiculous. The president and board are disgraced. Use taxpayer money and the criminal justice system for their intended purposes.

Some of you Texans and non-Texans don’t get it. Its your tax dollards that MS Slade spent on herself and her friends. I’m sorry, she needs to go to jail. She knew what she was doing. Slade should be retired. The DA has to do a better job this time around to make
sure her peers understand you can not spend money for your own use that do not belong to you. The whole Country is watching Houston, Texas. Texas prides herself on being a tough State for abuse. We will see in this case how tough Houston and the State of Texas is.
A Texan! Now living in Metor Kansas City.
