"Many, many years ago one of my English TA officemates noticed that a student wrote 'writhing' instead of 'writing.' We spent the rest of the afternoon inserting 'writhing' into textbook titles ('Writhing with a Purpose') and other phrases like 'technical writhing.' My favorite: 'writhing across the curriculum.'” --peg Herding the 'Escape Goats': Contest Sends Up Epidemic of Student Howlers

Jon Huntsman Jr. of Utah has signed compromise legislation that will allow students in the state’s college dormitories to choose not to room with gun owners, but will not permit colleges to ban concealed weapons on their campuses. The law ends a long-running dispute in which colleges said they had the authority to ban guns in order to maintain safety and protect academic freedom. The legislative compromise came about after the state’s Supreme Court ruled in September that the University of Utah could not ban guns on its campus in defiance of a state gun-rights law. Can’t ban the guns, why not ban the bullets?

I had just made this entry in my grade book when I saw the Utah story: “Student absent from lab due to stab wound.”
God help us all!

I’m not to familiar with the Utahs “State Gun-Right Law”, but possibly could there be some control over the caliber size or stopping power of the firearms allowed on campus. Perhaps even the campus could write up its own guide lines/violations that would set an appropriate standard for the dispaly, securing, and use of the gun. If these rules are violated maybe something can be done to remove the firearm from the premise. Because all in all a college campus is no place for firearms.

If you have the licenses to carry a concealed weapon you should also be able to carry it on college campuses. Who’s to say when and where u should be able to protect your self. Some college campuses are like small cities full of crime. In all I agree with Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr.
