The University of Denver: Empowering Greatness Since 1864
An independent, private university located in one of the country's most dynamic cities, the University of Denver is an educational and research community that values curiosity, intellectual freedom and open communication.
DU is distinguished by a diverse combination of liberal arts and professional programs, selectively focused graduate studies and associated research institutes and centers. With more than 10,000 students who come from all 50 states and 87 countries, our campus community is characterized by inclusiveness, collaboration, responsiveness and accountability.
When you join our faculty and staff, you become part of a dynamic team united by a bold vision: to create a great private university dedicated to the public good.
Our community values teaching and mentoring
Teaching and mentoring are top priorities at the University of Denver. That's why we work so hard to ensure that our students take classes from full-time faculty members who are fully invested in the life of the campus. Many of our professors welcome student participation in their research, and the University funds faculty-supervised undergraduate research with grants.
Our modern campus fosters 21st century learning
Set on 125 acres in a quiet neighborhood, the University campus is home to an arboretum, beautiful gardens, historic landmarks and a host of signature buildings that reflect Colorado's landscape and culture. In recent years, the University has invested $450 million in the campus and its programs, making for a pleasing environment that fosters teamwork and collaboration.
Our culture prizes diversity
When recruiting students, staff and faculty members, the University welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds. The University has adopted a diversity statement that guides its efforts to achieve and sustain a multicultural community.
Our learning environment is always developing
The University's Center for Teaching and Learning is dedicated to creating and expanding faculty development opportunities related to teaching. It provides consultations and workshops, funds for teaching projects, instructional design, Web application development, and technical training and support.
Our policies and benefits are structured with families in mind
Benefits-eligible employees enjoy everything from tuition waivers and affordable health insurance to tax-sheltered retirement-savings plans. Just as important, our benefits are family friendly, with paid parental leave and flexible spending accounts for childcare expenses. A family-focused Web resource—www.du.edu/childcare—offers everything from information on eldercare to online discussions for parents.
