Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, founded in 1870, is one of fourteen state-owned institutions comprising the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Total student enrollment at the main and Clearfield branch campuses is 4,900. Lock Haven University is located in north central Pennsylvania in the scenic Appalachian Mountains, on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. The city of Lock Haven has a population of about 8,000. State College (40,000) and Williamsport (32,000) are each less than an hour's drive away.
