Mott Community College

Since being founded in 1923, Mott Community College has established a tradition of excellence. From academics to athletics, from economic development to high technology, MCC is nationally recognized as a leading force. As the Flint Journal stated in a recent editorial, "Mott Community College is the backbone of higher education for Genesee County and beyond." Mott maintains a high level of integrity in its practices and relationships both internally and externally.

Mott Community College (MCC) is a publicly-supported comprehensive, multi-campus community college serving Genesee County, Michigan and the surrounding counties encompassing an urban, suburban and rural population of approximately 779,000. MCC has campuses/centers in the City of Flint, Southern and Northern Genesee County, and Lapeer County. In addition, the college operates a 42,200 square foot Michigan Technology Education Center in Livingston County, an 180,000 square foot Regional Technology Center on the main Flint Campus, three Community Access Technology Centers, a University Center, a Workforce Development One Stop Center, the Employment Services Office of Shiawassee County and multiple business/industry sites. The College has an annual unduplicated headcount enrollment of 18,874 students and an annual budget of approximately $60,000,000. A seven-member elected Board of Trustees governs the College of 425 full-time employees with six bargaining units.

Standard & Poor's recently elevated the College's bond rating to A+ status. We have adopted AQIP for accreditation and are in the very early stages of launching this endeavor. Our curriculum planning and evaluation process is state of the art. Our faculty have been using WIDS for instructional design and we recently modified our General Education requirements. We have made significant investments toward upgrading and improving academic facilities.

Location

Mott's main campus is situated on the former grounds of the Charles Stewart Mott Estate. The campus is located just east of downtown Flint, in the College/Cultural district and is easily accessed by three interstate highways: I-75, I-69 and US-23. Bishop International Airport, which is the fastest growing airport in the state, is located ten minutes from the campus. Due to our centralized location, we are within a short drive for entertainment and recreational activities. Large metropolitan areas, such as Detroit, Chicago and Toronto are within a one to five hour drive. Those who enjoy a more rural, less hurried environment can travel "up north" within an hour. Our climate allows residents to enjoy year round activities. Michigan has close to 38,575 miles of water bordering the state and 36,000 linear miles of rivers and streams.
