- The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Barbara Dixon, president of Truman State University, in Kirksville, Mo., has announced her resignation — effective October 15 — citing differences with the university’s governing board as the reason for her departure. Ms. Dixon, who has led the institution since 2003, declined to give details but said she was not asked to step down.
- Santa Clara University, a Jesuit institution situated near California’s Silicon Valley, has chosen a new president: the Rev. Michael Engh, dean of the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts at Loyola Marymount University, in Los Angeles. He replaces the Rev. Paul Locatelli, who is retiring after nearly two decades in the post.
