Legal Troubles
The University of Nevada at Reno says it has been forced to spend about $1.7-millon on outside legal help to fend off a flurry of lawsuits filed by employees who are all represented by the same lawyer, according to a report on The Chronicle’s News Blog based on an article in the Reno Gazette-Journal.
“UNR said it’s the target of meritless complaints filed by disgruntled current or former employees with the help of an attorney who uses ‘abusive’ tactics,” the Gazette-Journal reported.
The lawyer, Jeff Dickerson, told the newspaper that the only thing “absurd and abusive” is how the university has wasted public money in what he called its attempts to cover up corruption.

Colleges and universities in these times will be more and more under scrutiny for waste of public money. I think we will be seeing a change, especially in reaction to conspicuous displays of frivolous spending, whether salaries, programs, research or even behavior. Since we are government funded (almost every one is) the public trusts us to conduct our business fairly and honestly.

Such scrutiny should extend to private institutions, especially the ones not typically under scrutiny because of their lower ranks, smaller size, and modest endowments. These enjoy considerable freedom and some have established habits that would not pass an ethics test, especiallyon funds received from donors and friends.

UNR is run by a bunch of incompetent and corrupt president and staff. He is told what to do by Janet Vreeland, a nasty old hag. She is running the show at UNR, Glick is too old to do anything. The students, staff, and faculty morale is at its lowest. Glick and Janet Vreeland should be put to trial and be in prison for the rest of their natural life for the corruption and the embezzlement of public funds
