[Search re-opened]
Saint Mary's University of Minnesota seeks an innovative, visionary individual with the academic credentials and administrative abilities to provide strategic leadership for the School of Humanities and Sciences on its undergraduate residential campus. The new Dean will have the opportunity to lead and engage the school within the setting of a dynamic university at the launch of its second century of service to the global community.
The Dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences oversees and advances the quality of academic programs and supports the development of faculty and the academic experience of students. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean works closely with other Deans and administrators, department chairpersons and faculty of the department within the school. The Dean must support the Lasallian Catholic identity and mission of the University and actively advance this mission and identity. As an academic officer, the dean assumes a university-wide perspective with a strategic role in communication and planning. The Dean explains the concerns of University to faculty and speaks for the school's faculty, programs, and curriculum with the university administration.
Terminal degree in an academic field within the school; seven or more years of college teaching experience; achievement of (or eligibility for) faculty rank as an associate or full professor; prior administrative experience as a Dean, Associate Dean or department chairperson are required. Experience working with diverse populations is a plus. Candidates must have significant experience with program development activity (curriculum development, assessment, etc.) and faculty mentoring, development, and evaluation.
