Miami University seeks an experienced and aspirational advancement professional as its next Vice President for Advancement to lead the Universitys fundraising and alumni relations efforts and to provide strategic vision and leadership as the University strengthens its image as a nationally-regarded, student-centered public university.

The Vice President for University Advancement reports to the President and will be a member of his Executive Cabinet. She or he will be responsible for strengthening the Universitys development and alumni relations programs and ensuring the growth of Miamis overall philanthropic capacity. Working closely with the President, Trustees, Deans, senior staff, faculty, and key stakeholders throughout the community, the Vice President will strengthen a culture of philanthropy that reflects the time-honored traditions of the University. The Vice President will join the Miami University community at an exciting time as it enters the final stages of its $500 million capital campaign, For Love and Honor. With $430 million raised, the University is enjoying the fruits of this effort across campus, including scholarships, professorships and chairs, program enhancements, a transformative student center that is currently under construction, and a new state-of-the-art business school building.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic and accomplished individual to advance a comprehensive, high-level development program, capable of meeting the Universitys objectives and enhancing its resources and reputation, including the key role it plays in higher education at the state and national level. With at least 10 years of leadership experience in successful development and alumni relations operations or in similarly complex programs, the ideal candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of all major advancement functions; substantial experience in campaign planning and execution; personal success in donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship at the major and principal gift levels; and experience working with or in a supporting foundation. He or she will manage and mentor a 100-plus person staff, and must be able to create a work environment that rewards individual and collective success, manages risk taking, builds confidence and promotes diversity. A bachelors degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
