Athletics: Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. Ball State University is seeking nominations and applications for Athletic Director. The position is available July 1, 2012, and is a 12-month multiyear appointment (renewable). Reporting to the president of the university, the athletic director is responsible for leading a competitive program at the NCAA Division 1-A level in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) fielding teams in 7 men's and 12 women's sports. The athletic director manages the university's department of intercollegiate athletics, including planning, budgeting, financial management, personnel, scheduling, regulatory compliance, resource development and fund-raising, student and faculty relations, and public and media relations. The person filling this position must have the minimum qualifications of: (1) bachelor's degree; (2) at least five years of management experience in intercollegiate athletics at the Division 1 level; (3) a strong commitment to the personal development, well being, and academic achievement of student-athletes; (4) excellent public communication and writing skills; (5) a commitment to diversity and gender equity; and (6) a record of success at resource development and fund-raising. An advanced degree is a preferred qualification for the person filling this position. Ball State University is located on a vibrant campus approximately 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis in Muncie, Indiana.
