Athletics: Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. Ball State University is seeking nominations and applications for Athletic Director. The position is available July 1, 2012, and is a 12-month multiyear appointment (renewable). Reporting to the president of the university, the athletic director is responsible for leading a competitive program at the NCAA Division 1-A level in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) fielding teams in 7 men's and 12 women's sports. The athletic director manages the university's department of intercollegiate athletics, including planning, budgeting, financial management, personnel, scheduling, regulatory compliance, resource development and fund-raising, student and faculty relations, and public and media relations. The person filling this position must have the minimum qualifications of: (1) bachelor's degree; (2) at least five years of management experience in intercollegiate athletics at the Division 1 level; (3) a strong commitment to the personal development, well being, and academic achievement of student-athletes; (4) excellent public communication and writing skills; (5) a commitment to diversity and gender equity; and (6) a record of success at resource development and fund-raising. An advanced degree is a preferred qualification for the person filling this position. Ball State University is located on a vibrant campus approximately 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis in Muncie, Indiana. Approximately 22,000 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled in one of the seven academic colleges that offer 175 undergraduate programs, 103 master's programs, and 17 doctoral programs.
