Social Science: The Goodrich Scholarship Program, an academic department of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, has a social science position for a tenure-track assistant professor, beginning 2012/2013 academic year. Goodrich and the university have a strong commitment to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from members of underrepresented groups and strongly encourage women and persons of color to apply for this position. Qualifications: Required: In hand or at the time of job offer, a Ph.D. in a social science, such as sociology, political science, economics, psychology, anthropology, and archaeology and some college experience teaching introductory social science. The position also offers opportunity for research. The Goodrich Scholarship Program: The nationally recognized state-funded Goodrich Scholarship Program offers scholarship (based on merit and need) to academically strong low-income Nebraska residents, many of them first-generation, many of them often lacking knowledge of how to navigate college academic culture. Annually, the program recruits, educates, and graduates these Goodrich scholars. The program offers its own distinctive writing-intensive, integrated interdisciplinary curriculum, which is a part of the university's required general education curriculum. For more information, go to http://goodrich.unomaha.edu/. Goodrich faculty and students come from diverse cultural backgrounds, and its core values include student-centeredness, academic excellence, community engagement, interactive diversity, and leadership development. Goodrich scholars have different majors in different departments. All regular Goodrich faculty have their primary appointments in Goodrich, but also, depending on their expertise, have a disciplinary home (another academic department or unit), where the faculty would usually teach one course every semester. Since its inception in 1972, the program's graduation rate has consistently equaled or exceeded that of the national average, resulting in state and national awards. Every applicant must apply for the position by both electronic and non-electronic means: Send your electronic application materials (cover letter, CV, and addresses of three references, including attachments) through http://www.unomaha.edu. Send your non-electronic application materials (1, cover letter; 2, curriculum vitae; 3, three reference letters; 4, evidence of teaching experience, including list of classes taught and summary or transcript of teaching evaluations; 5, teaching philosophy statement) to Chair, Search Committee, Goodrich Scholarship Program, University of Nebraska at Omaha, 6001 Dodge Street, CB 123, Omaha, Nebraska 68182. Review of applications begins April 1, 2012.
