The faculty member is primarily responsible for teaching a range of courses including general and introductory chemistry, and analytical chemistry.  The faculty member may also occasionally teach organic chemistry.

 

In addition, faculty members are expected to stay current in their disciplines and in teaching methodologies, including the use of technology; implement changes in instruction based on assessment results; maintain reasonably distributed office hours; develop and revise curriculum; participate in a variety of college committees and task forces; participate in community service activities; and advise students as appropriate. 

 

This is a 10-month, tenure-track position scheduled to begin August 2012.
 

A minimum of a master's degree in chemistry and one year teaching experience or equivalent required.  Candidates should have demonstrated ability to use technology in teaching and learning; incorporate student learning outcome objectives within courses and to assess these outcomes; demonstrated ability to teach a range of chemistry courses; and effective communication skills.  Candidates will be asked to validate teaching experience.  
 

Experience teaching general chemistry at the college level, preferably in a community college setting, is highly desirable.
