ACCOUNTING FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
COLLEGE OF BUSINESS
THE UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA
Position description
Applications are invited for a tenure track assistant or associate
professor of accounting, position no. 102820. The position is
available August 2012 and is dependent upon funding. Primary
teaching duties will be undergraduate and graduate courses in
financial accounting. Preference will be given to candidates who
can also teach in one or more of the following areas: governmental
and nonprofit, cost and managerial.
The University of West Florida primarily emphasizes quality
teaching. In addition, faculty members are expected to publish in
quality refereed journals, maintain academic qualifications
pursuant to AACSB requirements, perform career and academic
counseling, and serve on departmental, college and university
committees. A normal teaching load is three courses (two
preparations) per semester. This position may require teaching at
the nearby Fort Walton Beach campuses of the University
(approximately 50 miles east of the main campus). Opportunities for
summer support for teaching or research are normally available.
Opportunities also exist for faculty to teach at UWF partner
schools in Europe.
Salary is AACSB competitive and will be commensurate with
experience.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in accounting from an AACSB
accredited university. ABDs may be considered, but must provide
strong evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed prior to
August 2012. Preferred candidates will also have relevant
professional experience and professional certification. Candidates
must demonstrate the potential to pursue a balanced commitment to
excellent teaching, productive research, and active service. A
significant record of scholarly publication and teaching excellence
is required for appointment at the rank of associate
professor.
