ACCOUNTING FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
COLLEGE OF BUSINESS
THE UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA

Position description
Applications are invited for a tenure track assistant or associate professor of accounting, position no. 102820. The position is available August 2012 and is dependent upon funding. Primary teaching duties will be undergraduate and graduate courses in financial accounting. Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach in one or more of the following areas: governmental and nonprofit, cost and managerial.

The University of West Florida primarily emphasizes quality teaching. In addition, faculty members are expected to publish in quality refereed journals, maintain academic qualifications pursuant to AACSB requirements, perform career and academic counseling, and serve on departmental, college and university committees. A normal teaching load is three courses (two preparations) per semester. This position may require teaching at the nearby Fort Walton Beach campuses of the University (approximately 50 miles east of the main campus). Opportunities for summer support for teaching or research are normally available. Opportunities also exist for faculty to teach at UWF partner schools in Europe.

Salary is AACSB competitive and will be commensurate with experience.

Qualifications
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in accounting from an AACSB accredited university. ABDs may be considered, but must provide strong evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed prior to August 2012. Preferred candidates will also have relevant professional experience and professional certification. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to pursue a balanced commitment to excellent teaching, productive research, and active service. A significant record of scholarly publication and teaching excellence is required for appointment at the rank of associate professor.
