Position: The Department of Food and Nutrition at Indiana
University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a nine-month
tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank beginning
August 2012.
About the Department: The Department is one of nine units in the
College of Health and Human Services with six tenure track faculty
lines. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, a
Master of Science in Food and Nutrition, and a Dietetic Internship.
At the undergraduate level the B.S. curriculum includes three major
tracks: culinary dietetics, dietetics, and nutrition. The culinary
dietetics, dietetics, and dietetic internship are accredited by the
Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education. The graduate
program emphasizes applied nutrition.
Responsibilities: Major teaching responsibilities include a variety
of undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of Food and
Nutrition, likely to include introductory and experimental foods
and foods laboratory courses. Other required activities include:
student advising, curriculum development, intern supervision, and
involvement in activities that support the department, university,
community, and profession. The successful candidate may be assigned
to perform work at off-campus sites and/or provide instruction
through distance education.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate in human nutrition or a related
field by the date of appointment. Registered Dietitian credential
and licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in Pennsylvania
required. Demonstrated excellence in college teaching and ability
to work collaboratively required. Demonstrated knowledge in the
application of food chemistry, biochemistry of foods, and human
nutrition required. Candidates must communicate effectively and
perform well during the interview(s) which may include a teaching
demonstration. All applicants must be work eligible.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates
whose college teaching experience and/or work-related experiences
include: food science, food technology, experimental foods, or
related disciplines. Publications/research and/or grant writing
experience is desirable. Practice experience, supervision of
internships, leadership and participation in professional
organizations is also preferred.
