Business and Economics Liaison Librarian
George Mason University Libraries seek a creative, energetic,
motivated and collegial librarian for the position of Business and
Economics Liaison Librarian. To support teaching, learning and
scholarship in Mason's School of Management (som.gmu.edu) and
Department of Economics (economics.gmu.edu), the incumbent provides
information literacy instruction; plans, provides, and assesses
reference and research services; facilitates student/faculty
engagement, and develops library research collections in these
disciplines. The incumbent also provides general reference
assistance to users in various academic disciplines. As a key
member of the Fenwick Library Reference Department and the
Libraries' social sciences liaison team, this position advances the
broader strategic initiatives of the University Libraries and the
university.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: ·ALA-accredited MLS or ALA-recognized foreign
equivalent. ·At least three years academic research library
reference, instruction, outreach and collection development
experience in business, economics and/or relevant subject areas.
·Demonstrated advanced knowledge and use of research resources in
business and economics. ·Demonstrated skill as an instructor,
including designing and maintaining instructional materials,
Web-based modules, and other online teaching and research
resources. ·Initiative, creativity, flexibility and commitment to
responsive and quality services. ·Experience in developing working
partnerships and engagement with academic departments. ·Excellent
problem-solving, technology, and communication skills. ·Able to
work effectively with diverse academic groups. ·Able to meet
requirements for reappointment and promotion as a Libraries'
professional faculty member of George Mason University.
PREFERRED: ·Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in Business
and/or Economics. ·Experience with/in: current technologies;
undergraduate and graduate information literacy instruction in
Business and/or Economics; relevant subject area data collections
& GIS; research service and collection assessment in these
disciplines.
Appointment/Benefits: 12-month professional faculty appointment
with rank dependent on qualifications and experience. Health plan
options and paid life insurance; several retirement plans including

waiver for self.
