Job Description:
THE DEAN OVERSEES THE FOLLOWING ACADEMIC DEGREE PROGRAMS:
* Architectural Design and Building
* Automotive Technology
* Carpentry
* Computer Aided Drafting and Design
* Construction Management/Construction Technology
* Electrical Construction and Controls
* Integrated Energy Systems
* Plumbing, Heating,Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
* Welding Technology
* Park & Outdoor Recreation
* Physical Education Studies
* Recreation & Sports Management
* Golf Course Management
* Golf Course Operations
* Horticulture
* Landscape Design and Management
* Turf Management
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Academic:
* Participate in the development of the strategic vision,
short and long range plans, and goals and objectives in support of
SUNY Delhi's mission.
* Work with accrediting agencies to maintain and/or achieve program
accreditation.
* Improve instruction and student learning through the development,
implementation and use of course and program level
assessment.
* Work with department faculty to develop new program initiatives
in response to student, workforce and economic development
needs.
* Develop new curricula and prepare proposals to obtain
approval.
* Oversee and delegate responsibility for the academic advisement
of divisional students.
* Assist in graduate placement.
* Promote scholarships and gifts to the college.
* Oversee recruitment of and work closely with program advisory
councils.
* Facilitate program and curriculum development and program
evaluation.
* Work with Office of Training & Business Recruitment staff to
develop and deliver off campus instructional programs.
* Develop and deliver academic programs to non-traditional students
in distance learning locations/venues.
* Oversee program laboratory facilities.
Management:
* Provide supervision, administration and leadership for
divisional programs, faculty and staff members on a daily
basis.
* Facilitate and serve as a channel for reciprocal communication
between the faculty and staff within the Division, across divisions
and across functions within the college.
* Coordinate the recruitment, selection, supervision and evaluation
of divisional faculty, professional and classified staff.
* Work with accrediting agencies to maintain and/or achieve program
accreditation.
* Work with department faculty to develop new program initiatives
in response to student, workforce and economic development
needs.
* Develop new curricula and prepare proposals to obtain
approval.
* Provide leadership in the pursuit of grant funding opportunities,
including the preparation of grant proposals.
* Recommend and oversee divisional budgets.
* Approve divisional course schedules, teaching and staff
assignments.
* Organize, appoint and/or serve on appropriate academic and
administrative committees.
* Work with Campus Information Systems to enhance the use of
technology in instruction and departmental administration.
* Recommend and approve the acquisition and maintenance of
divisional equipment and supplies.
* Prioritize acquisition of academic equipment based on college and
divisional goals.
* Represent SUNY Delhi at appropriate community, University and
professional functions and meetings.
* Develop and maintain industry contacts.
* Oversee recruitment of and work closely with program advisory
councils.
* Prepare college catalog and other appropriate descriptive
materials.
* Develop and prepare requested reports.
* Work closely with enrollment and college advancement staff to
promote SUNY Delhi, achieve targeted enrollment growth within new
programs and under-enrolled programs.
* Participate in admissions activities to facilitate and promote
student enrollment in divisional programs.
* Work with Office of Training & Business Recruitment staff to
develop and deliver off campus instructional programs.
* Monitor and guide program/divisional student projects (example:
new spec houses).
Recruitment/Admissions:
* Continually investigate and develop ways of improving
services to students.
* Oversee recruitment of and work closely with program advisory
councils.
* Work closely with enrollment and college advancement staff to
promote SUNY Delhi, achieve targeted enrollment growth within new
programs and increase enrollment in under-enrolled programs.
* Participate in admissions activities to highlight divisional
programs.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree in a related or appropriate area
required. Doctoral degree preferred. Experience: Significant
teaching experience and academic administrative experience and/or
relevant industry experience required.
Skills: Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, human relations, financial
management, oral and written communications, analytical and team
building skills. Knowledge in the technical areas covered by
divisional academic programs. Proven ability to work effectively
with students, faculty, administration and members of the
industries/trades divisional programs represent.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Dean of Applied Sciences and Building
Technologies reports to the Provost and provides leadership,
supervision and administration of divisional academic programs. The
division includes a wide array of applied academic programs from
the certificate to the associate and baccalaureate levels. These
programs are focused on preparing students for transfer or career
opportunities. The Dean is responsible for maintaining and
developing strong, student-focused academic programs, developing
strategies for student recruitment and retention and selection and
supervision of divisional faculty and staff. The Dean serves as a
member of the Dean's Council, participates in the College's
strategic planning, and works closely with both academic and
administrative areas of the College
Salary range: $85,000 - $95,000 with an excellent benefits
