Christopher Newport University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Annual Giving in the Office of University Advancement. Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the successful candidate will assist in the development, management, and implementation of the Annual Giving program. This position will seek annual financial support from the University's alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and other community constituents. Other responsibilities will include the management of all direct mail campaigns that provide annual support for the University; creating, managing, and maintaining all Annual Giving printed materials and online content; managing and maintaining Annual Giving data including reports, prospect lists, mail lists, volunteer board rosters, and the Annual Giving calendar; introducing strategies to increase involvement and build relationships with all University constituencies; representing CNU at major University events; and promoting the philosophy and objectives of the Advancement Office.

A Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree and experience that equates to an advanced degree is required. The successful candidate must have substantial experience working in a fundraising environment and volunteer management; budgetary experience; computer proficiency in Microsoft or similar applications including e-mail; ability to work evenings and weekends; ability to work collaboratively; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; excellent customer service skills; ability to manage several annual campaigns simultaneously; and be detailed-oriented. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in higher education or large non-profit organizations working on fundraising campaigns.
