Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowships

The College of the Holy Cross invites applications for two postdoctoral teaching fellowships to begin in August 2010. Candidates will normally be within three years of the doctorate and must demonstrate commitment to undergraduate teaching as well as scholarly achievement.

The fellowship appointments are for two years. Fellows teach three courses per year and are expected to extend their doctoral research under the guidance of a tenured faculty member. Fellows have access to funds to support research and travel, are offered the opportunity to enroll in courses offered by the Colleges of Worcester Consortium's Certificate in College Teaching Program, and also participate in a faculty development program that fosters excellence in teaching and scholarship. These full-time fellowships offer a competitive salary and include full benefits.

Applications will be accepted in two disciplines:

The Department of Biology seeks an individual with research interests in either behavioral energetics of terrestrial arthropods (research sponsor: Dr. Ken Prestwich) or the biochemistry of proteins related to cell adhesion, migration and/or mechanotransduction (research sponsor: Dr. Rob Bellin). Teaching opportunities will be in an area suitable to the candidate's background and involve some combination of introductory or upper level courses for biology majors as well as courses for non-science majors.
