FEATURED SITE
American Museum of Natural History
At the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, the
skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex crouches in a hunting pose -- head
low to the ground, tail raised for balance. But just a few years ago, the
same skeleton looked more like Godzilla, standing tall and dragging its
tail.
The T. rex's new posture is one result of discoveries that have
changed the way paleontologists think about all kinds of ancient creatures.
The museum's just-opened World-Wide Web site -- where the T. rex
can be found in a section called "Fossil Halls" -- reflects some of those
new attitudes, and at the same time showcases some of the millions of
specimens in the museum's collections.
