This chart gives the number of institutions by category, and shows where the institutions were placed in the 1994 classification. For example, it shows that there are 148 universities in the Doctoral/Research-Extensive group. Of those, 87 were classified as Research I institutions in 1994, 37 as Research II, 19 as Doctoral I, and 5 as
Doctoral II. Institutions that did not appear in the 1994 classification are listed under the "New" category. |
