A Digest of Recent Corporate News in Distance Education By BROCK READ The California Community Colleges will use Web-conferencing technology from HorizonLive as the backbone of a series of online courses available throughout the system's 108 campuses. (Link to press release.) Hofstra University has chosen Blackboard Inc. to maintain its online-learning programs. (Link to press release.) eCollege will provide online-leaning software to Texas Christian University. The company, which already manages Texas Christian's online master's programs, will now develop the university's other course Web sites. (Link to press release.) The University of Washington at Seattle and Pearson Education Inc. will market online courses and certificate programs to corporate clients. The courses, designed and taught by Washington faculty members, will use textbooks and materials from Prentice Hall, a Pearson subsidiary. (Link to press release.)
