A Digest of Recent Corporate News in Distance Education

  • Northern Virginia Community College will use software from Centra to expand its online continuing-education program and develop live and collaborative learning technology. Centra will also train the college's faculty members to use a new student-information system. (Link to press release.)

  • NYUOnline, the for-profit online-learning branch of New York University, has agreed to integrate its software with that of Generation21 Learning Systems. The university's iAuthor, a content-development program, will be used in conjunction with the company's Total Knowledge Management System. (Link to press release.)

  • The Skillsoft Corporation will provide 450 of its online business courses to a consortium of 10 institutions in the California State University System. The courses will serve as part of the system's continuing-education program. (Link to press release.)
