So, we're at the first main ad break, and already we've had whining and crying and grabbing and grass staining of fabrics.

I want to be Tim Gunn somedays.  Some people have Dead Poets Society as their teaching idol/fantasy.  I have Tim Gunn.

Who else is watching?

Me!

I'm sniffly with a cold and feeling miserable and exhausted after flying all day long, but the one thing that kept me going was the knowledge that I'd be home in time to watch the season opener of PR.

I love Tim on this show, but I was so glad they canceled his "Guide to Style" program. It really didn't do him justice.

Me, three!

It should be interesting.. all the folk who do this professionally. Some of them are already a bit "out there."

I read this as the 21 year old kid with the Aha! hair was commenting on the grass-staining sewing on herself as a form woman.

I think "out there" will be an understatement; though I hope the characters stick around for a while.

I love this series! I love what it says about the creative process and what happens when it doesn't work as much as when it does (which is why I adore Tim Gunn).

I know exactly what you mean. Teaching writing means going around looking at drafts and giving guidance like Tim Gunn does in the workroom. I've picked up a lot of his style of commenting, although I have not yet told anyone to "carry on" nor to "make it work." I also try not to do so much uptalking.

Why the heck were they promoting his show if it was cancelled? It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I still love him on Runway.

Oh, and let me tell you, one of my highlights about moving back to NYC was being behind Tim Gunn in line at D'agostino's. And I love that one of his items he was buying was tater tots.

I'm loving that the Project Runway season starts at just the right time in the semester.  Creative angst and general high emotional theatrics are fun when I don't have to be in the middle of the melt down.  I really need some light and fluffy entertainment.

No kidding, huh?

I escape my own chaos with costumers by watching it on TV.  Sooo much better through the box.

I don't know what to make of this.

Maybe the tater tots will show up in some sort of potato-themed designing challenge.

ooohh. I do :-)  It cracks my students up - something about teachers who actually watch TV. "Make it work" comes in handy for large, unstructured creative projects.

One of my dirty little secrets is that I really love watching the designers and techies do better jobs emoting than the actors.  Or maybe it's just a self defense mechanism.

As to the chaos...never mind.  A bit of stewing in your own creative juices never hurt anyone.

Oh, and Tim Gunn reminds me of one of my advisers.  I have flash backs watching Gunn do workroom walk throughs.  Very, very weird.

I wasn't a fan (expected better advice!) but I thought that it was still going?

It looks like the fireworks are going to start early this year.  I think they picked the right person to walk, but I'm not sure what they hell they were thinking with that pseudo-80s plaid poofy sleeved thingy they kept going on about.  Maybe I just don't "get" fashion, ha ha.
