Anyone reading this author? I found his latest book, the first Thursday Next sequel, to be not the best, but the others, particularly on audio book format, are great. Very funny and clever.

I am. Have done since he first started publishing, in fact. I know that Malcha reads him as well.

Like you, I found First Among Sequels to be a bit below par, but that didn't stop me devouring it in the course of an evening.

Oh, and I have a stuffed toy dodo named Pickwick ;-)

I love the Thursday Next books, but simply couldn't get in to his Jack Spratt ones. I'm eagerly waiting for the paperback First Among Sequels.

Clever device but does not sustain my interest. But then, little does.

I've read them all, starting when The Eyre Affair was published.  First Among Sequels was a little uneven, but I did like the Stiltonistas.

As for Jack Spratt, I didn't like the first one at all but found The Fourth Bear a lot better.
