I just wanted to say how grateful I am to have read "Striking Out,"
by Harry Lancaster. His essay mirrors my experience on the job market this year. I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one with experience who is having trouble on the job market.
Earlier this year so many people said to me, "Oh you'll have no
problem finding another job. You have lots of solid experience." I should have known that it was too good to be true, and that the well-meaning co-workers who gave me this advice had not searched for a job in 15-25 years.
Like Harry, I'm looking toward next year. Unlike Harry, I wasn't even selective about the jobs I applied to and I still had problems. So, all you veterans who are job changing, hang in there.
