Mended Drum, I've been asked to donate two dozen frescos to a student group. What is a fresco and how can I obtain two dozen to spare?

I'm afraid that your students think that you are an international art thief and are working with Interpol to catch you.  This is what happens when academics wear too much black and speak funny.

Is Avagadro's number 6.022 x 10^23 or 6.022 x 10^23, and what difference does it make in our daily lives?

Whatever your problem is, it's probably my fault.

I believe that it has been supplanted by the Avagadro constant, so the Avagadro's number's primary effect on our daily lives is as a forum for live music in Fort Collins, Colorado where one might choose between Weiner Wednesday and Taco Thursday for the lunch special.

Mended_drum does not participate in the "dry cleaning" habit, having given away any piece of clothing that expects that kind of pampering.  However, she is a bit worried about the fact that the home of this Martinizing process is a place called Loveland, Ohio, and suspects that whatever is going on there is something a wise person should wot not of.

They've gone to tablets, every one.  Oh, when will they ever learn?  Oh, when...just reboot the thing and see what happens.

I recently noticed that when I pull up to the Drive-thru ATM, there is a set of instructions next to the ATM in Braille.  Am I to assume that this is for the all of the blind drivers who also have banking needs?

On that same note, why in all governmental offices in My State are there signs in English that say, in effect, "If you don't know English, follow this procedure"?!

I've always assumed it's for those morons who wear sunglasses at night.

[Note:  The real reason, of course, is that the company that makes the ATM machines also installs them in non-drive thru locations inside of banks and stores or on the outside of large bank buildings in urban areas.  Places where you walk up to them.  And they're not going to manufacture two different kinds just because some of them will be placed in drive thrus.]

Why do things hurt like the Dickens? Why not Poe, or Austen, or Woolf? Or (interthreaduality alert) Rowling?

It is common at other schools to have an associate dean in charge of taking space from departments for more dean's assistant offices?

Have you seen how long Dickens' novels are?!  It would hurt much worse to be smacked with a Dickens than an Austen, though I admit that one or two of the Rowlings would be painful as well.

Yes, but it's not at all common for that person's identity to be known; they usually hide behind the physical plant and their administrative assistants.
