I learned that my inside connection at one job I might apply for - a possible solution to our two-body problem - is not a good connection to have, as she was denied tenure then successfully won it on appeal. Legal action may have been involved. Good to know! In learning this, I also learned all sorts of dirt on the department that makes it sound less likely I'd be hired, but oh well.

I learned that I can write just as well with my left hand as I can with my right. This actually makes sense given that I use my left hand for pretty much everything in the lab, but I discovered it by chance by accidentally labeling my cell flasks with my left hand instead of my right because, well, I'm weird, I guess. (Srsly. Who accidentally starts writing with their non-writing hand and only realizes they're doing it after labeling five flasks?)

This information will be useful for the next time I fall off a ladder and damage my right hand.

Alas, I discovered that the right-hand rule, in physics, does not work with my left hand. I was holding my textbook in my right hand at the time, so I used the available hand without thinking. It took a while to figure out why the vectors were all wrong. (This was years ago, not today.)

I am left-dominant, and can fairly easily write mirror-image with my right hand.  I used to even take notes this way in secondary school.  But I find it much harder to write non-mirrored with my right hand.

Opposite for me. I'm right hand dominant, but can write mirrored with my left (preferably at the same time, which cuts down on the efficiency angle) much more easily than writing non-mirrored left handed.

Huh, I can't even brush my teeth with my left hand.  I fail.

I've never tried it, but I'm getting confused just imagining it.

Whatever your problem is, it's probably my fault.

Now that I think about it, I do brush my teeth with my left hand.

I always thought it made sense that I do lab stuff with my left hand (pipetting etc.) because it keeps my right hand free for writing and unscrewing caps off tubes etc., but as I have yet to meet anyone else who pipettes things with their non-writing hand, I can only conclude that I'm just weird.

When my mom broke her (dominant) right hand, she swore she was going to end up putting an eye out trying to brush her teeth left-handed.

I haven't tried this. Is it in some way preferable?

Nevermind, I'll just report back to the group in a bit.

You're missing the point of the exercise. If you get involved with my post, we won't be able to tell how effective my left hand is. One variable at a time!

Give him some time, please. He has to find the paper written by the student he most wants never to see again before he can inflate the grade he gives it.

(What?! That has to be the most unmentionable thing someone would admit to doing on these fora. No? I'm sure that neither Cgfunmathguy, nor Bcohlan are closet plagiarizers, and I don't think they shill for EMP, ORT, or work in admin at UBD.)
