Hi there,

I am just starting up in this forum.

Like so many forums on the Web, The CHE forum has countless of threads with
very, very low replies/views ratios.

It is unbelievable to see the number (in the thousands) of people who read particular
posts  but never write a single word in reply.  Taking  but never giving ...

Please say a little something, sometimes and make a difference.

Thanks.

You appear to misunderstand the way a web forum works. Specifically, you definitely misunderstand this one. For one, the number of views a post gets =/= equal the number of people who have viewed it.

You also misunderstand the purpose of the specific forum in which you are posting. It was pointed out to you on another thread.

Most of these are bots. Sometimes they do reply. They give us spam. We don't want it.

Less is truly more in the case of replies.  Sometimes I have nothing helpful to say, or worse, nothing funny to say.

"It was pointed out to you on another thread."   To me ?   Humm...  How could that be ?

Well, if you would check the one other thread to which you've posted, you would have your answer.  Both VP & conjugate replied to you there.

In the future, please don't violate the terms of service and invest a little time in getting to know a virtual community before criticizing it.

U2, "With or Without You."

It can't be a minor offense. In academia there are only two kinds of offenses: Appalling Offenses, and Unforgivably Appalling Offenses.

U2, "With or Without You."

I was thinking of a TV or Movie thing... maybe Seinfeld?  I am familiar with the song as well, and of course that's all that came up when I searched, so maybe I'm missing a word or remembering it wrong.

If it's Seinfeld I'd put my money on George. Makes me think of the Big Salad incident.

Also, this forum is useful to all kinds of people who don't post. Nobody knows who's reading that can glean useful advice from reading threads. Conversely, we DO NOT need a bunch more dumbass replies that don't add substantially to the sum of knowledge on any given subject.

So: bad idea.

And I might post on a thread only once but view it many more times to read what others are saying.
