Hi all,

I recently accepted my first tt job, and I have a couple of questions: Is it appropriate to list my new institution on my CV? If so, how would I make it clear that my position starts in August? A few calls for papers ask for proposal and CV, and I would like to make it clear that by the time the conference rolls around I will be in a different situation.  Thanks!

Current affiliation: this school
After August 1st: new school

I would not do this unless the conference itself is after August 1st; even for a summer conference it would just look like bragging. But for a conference after you move, presuming your proposal gets accepted, you do want to be listed correctly in the program and on your nametag. On the other hand, if anyone for any reason goes looking for you on the web now, you do want them to find you.

You contract may well begin well before August--and that might make it OK to use the new affiliation in July for instance.

I'm reviving this because I could use advice too.

I am currently affiliated with two institutions, but my affiliation with both of them will end in May (I'm an adjunct at one and a student at another).  Neither is my Ph.D.-granting institution nor has funded or significantly supported my current research.  I have a signed contract for a TT job starting this fall.

I am submitting abstracts for two conferences.  The first of them is between the end of my current affiliations and the start of my TT contract and the second is during my first semester at my new institution.  I am physically moving either just before or just after the summer conference.

Does seniorscholar's advice to fraggles hold for me, such that I should list one of the two current affiliations for the summer conference (even though I won't be reachable at that institution) and the new affiliation for the fall conference?

I don't see it as bragging.

Only someone who doesn't have a job would see it as bragging, and its just too bad for them.

You are simply informing people that you will be somewhere else starting at some point in the near future.
I think thats fine. I would do the same thing if it were moving between post docs, or from a post doc to a VAP.
You are simply informning people.

Its fine.

I'm with RuralGuy.  You've been hired at TT job University.  They *want* you to start making a name for yourself in the field and to associate that with their university (or they wouldn't have hired you!).  And when people see your presentation they will want to know where to find you in the future.
