You know, I really don't find this to be a problematic advertisement at all. I don't have any relationship with the University of Scranton, but I don't see what's objectionable about promoting their study abroad opportunities as one of several positive aspects of their curriculum.

I agree with anisogamy. Every college I know of with an active study abroad program uses that in their promotional materials. If the school makes it possible for a large percentage of their students to study abroad then they should be proud of that.

Scranton is going to have to try a lot harder to embarrass themselves if they want to beat the nadir set by the "Drake is where you get your D+" campaign.

Well I know this region all too well. Scranton appeals to a fairly local population of students even though it has some very good departments and programs. But given it does, for some strong students from the region, a college education can be viewed as a ticket out of the region (and mining etc). Pictures of places abroad make that seem all the more likely. I must admit that it is an odd way to promote the school but maybe marketing suggested it was a better sell.
