I don't get Adele. I find her boring.
Finally. (Me too.)
I don't watch the Grammys because, given its history of choosing acts like Taste of Honey, Eric Clapton, and Steely Dan over Elvis Costello, Nirvana, and Emimem respectively, it seems to me an exercise in a failed industry congratulating itself.
Looks to me like Adele is the Kim Basinger of the Grammys (see Oscars/L.A. Confidential). I had never heard of her until her Grammy wins. I watched a video of her Grammy performance of Rolling in the Deep. It sounded like a bad copy of a Cee Lo Green arrangement in which she slurs her way around the beat, never hitting it precisely. Ok, I thought, maybe it's a lack of synchronization between the video and audio on Youtube. So I watched the official video on VEVO. Same thing. Then I watched a video her performing Set Fire To The Rain at the Royal Albert Hall. Same thing again. But with the addition of a weird croaking sound.
I'm a total non-expert when it comes to singing. Maybe VP can come along and explain what I'm noticing. Maybe it's just a matter of taste. But I think
Lana Del Ray is a lot more interesting as a singer.
