My campus is providing me with a lovely new MacBook Pro (13"). However, this sucker is more slippery than a damn fish. Even just pulling it out of my carrying case I can barely get a safe grip on it. The feet are also pretty worthless. The only Mac-manufactured external casing that I could attach to it seems to be similarly plastic with bad grip. Plus they want $60 for something that probably costs about 25 cents to manufacture.
Any advice about something else that I could attach to the laptop? I'm not talking about a sleeve for carrying it, but something that would be attached to the laptop while I'm using it.
(and really, this was not a rudimentary design feature anybody could be bothered to think about? sorry, it's Mon. morning and I'm grumpy)
Thanks!

I bought mine there too; essentially the same type. Works well for me, and came with a keyboard cover that I clean in the sink now and then. Happy accessories.

Ah, that looks terrific, and much more reasonable price-point! And if it comes with a keyboard cover, that would fabulous, as I have been looking for something like that, too.
Even though it's a hardshell cover, is it less slippery than the surface of the actual laptop?

I was just complaining about this the other day - I have to use all my finger gripping strength to get my mac out of its laptop sleeve!

I love the feel of a naked Mac, myself... but you could have a look at Gelaskins. They're a little bit grippy, and there are many pretty designs, but because they're just a skin on the back of the display part, they don't add weight or contribute much to heat build-up.

Yes. And if you want less slippery yet, choose a satin finish over a glossy one.

Oooh, those are so pretty! And they're quite reasonable (about $30 apiece). Plus some of the designs are made by contemporary artists, and I do like the idea of some of that money going to an actual artist. I'm thinking about this one by an artist named Ivy Jacobsen. The only hitch is that they are designed for the 13" MacBook Air, and mine is 13" MacBook Pro. Are they stretchy? I don't quite understand the dimensions they list on that page. And there don't seem to be any for my specific type of laptop. I'll send them a query, but I thought you might know, Jane. The other casings look very good as alternatives, though!

They're not stretchy, but I have moved one from an older, 13-inch white plastic Macbook to a new, 13-inch aluminum unibody Macbook, and there weren't any fit problems in that case.
