A brief question:  if a committee asks your for some suggested times that you will and won't be available, and then schedules you for a period you have made clear is not really all that feasible, is this likely an honest mistake, or just the slot that happened to be open?

Is a politely worded inquiry asking for a slight schedule change out of order?

If you cannot interview at the given time, then send a politely worded email explaining that you cannot interview at the given time and give a list of times you can interview.

Most people will understand that things slip through the cracks and will make an adjustment upon polite notification.  People who insist on interviewing you when you've said you can't interview are providing you useful information about how they operate.  You agreeing to interview when you've stated that you cannot interview at that time is also providing useful information on how you operate.  If that's not the message you want to send, then don't send that message.

Just ask, and see what happens. But, be willing to get a substitute for a class/classes or something like that. Show flexibility.

Keep in mind that they most likely would want to wrap things up in about 2 weeks.

If you put them off for more than that, and insist, then they may drop you.

Politely worded?.. Slight schedule change?  No harm in asking.
