Evals: Just Above the Average!

Like some of you, I'm forced finally to look at all my evals for last calendar year (spring 2011 and fall 2011), and I am just so relieved to report that I am actually above the department average again! I went below the year before, and was afraid I would fall below again because last year, as some of you who have followed my vents here, I was really uninspired and just took my teaching day by day and week by week with a count-down. I am quite shocked and so terribly relieved to be rated this well by students who also did not appear too inspired in the classroom either. Whew! Another year down! Hope you all are having good feelings reading your own evals and better luck this year to all of us.

Excellent, HD! We are also required to review them and provide a summary to the chair. I haven't done it yet for last year because I hate doing it on so many levels. So congrats to you and thanks for the reminder.

Sometimes I think I'll have great evals. based on class interaction, and then wind up with average or just below. On the other hand, many of my classes in which students were asleep or uninterested gave me stellar evals. Go figure.
