Greetings all!

Just wanted to spread some hope to those who might be awaiting word....

Found out on Friday I was awarded a one semester sabbatical next year! After over 10 years of TT teaching, (due to several TT positions) finally, a break.
There actually is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it includes an entire semester of NOT teaching  FOUR CLASSES!!!! (what, me, excited?!)

I still have a year to go (sabbatical will be next spring semester), but I am already relieved knowing it is there, waiting for me.

Happy week to all !

Great news, BoT! I also got my sabbatical approved last week. I'll be off for one quarter in the fall. I have planned ten times the amount of work than can be accomplished. I am looking forward to days and days of writing.

AND, litdawg, if you get one of the jobs you've been interviewed for, do remember that an early sabbatical is one of the things that can be negotiated -- in my department, people in your position would be offered a semester off in their second year (not the first, because the department has already handed out all the sabbaticals it's eligible to offer in the 2012-13 AY).

I'll definitely keep that in mind. It would take a load off my mind if I knew I didn't have to work another seven years toward a sabbatical!
