I just got back from an on-campus interview, where the department was very interested in details about new courses I could offer. During the interview itself, I thought of a new idea for a course, which I explained pretty well to the SC--they seemed interested. In his interview, the department (not SC) chair had suggested that I might submit in writing any ideas I had for courses, after the interview. Is this appropriate (the SCC did not say anything like this)? Would a written outline (not as detailed as a syllabus) given to the SCC be viewed as a helpful additional material, or a nuisance/redundant with my verbal explanation?

Thanks!

If the chair asked for materials, then send the materials to the chair.  The chair will share those materials with the committee if necessary.

If you haven't got either the anatomical or metaphorical balls to post your own question on a pseudonymous internet forum, then academia is the wrong job for you.
