Subject pretty much sums it up. How do I indicate that I hosted a webinar on my resume? Is it just another presentation? Or is there a different approach to this?

Also, sorry for using the term that, when searched on the fora, elicits lots of hatred of that word!

I agree.  If saw that on a résumé I would consider it padding, take a decidedly dim view of the candidate, and quickly move onto other résumés.

I would not be so quick to diminish this. This might take as much skill and time management as organizing a conference panel. 

OP, can you tell us more about the nature of the webinar and what work you did to host it?

I agree with Merinoblue: what was involved in the webinar?

If what you did was give a talk for something like the live ACS webinar series, then that would go under presentations with the venue as the ACS webinar series.

If you organized something like a panel discussion, then that would go under service just like other organizational activities.

It was an hour-long talk on assessment in campus activities. This was sponsored by a national association and presented exclusively for 15 new professionals and their mentors.

The consensus seems to be to cite as a presentation.

I don't know your field, but this sounds like a significant presentation. It should go on your CV as a sponsored presentation (identify the association).  The fact that you didn't fly somewhere and give it in person doesn't diminish its value.

I think "hosting a webinar" title confused people. Where I am, hosting would refer to someone inviting people to watch a webinar as a group. All the "host" would do is to push a button an perhaps provide bottled water. Definitely does not qualify as professional accomplishment of any kind.

Presenting/recording/teaching a webinar would be an accomplishment similar to a more conventional presentation.

So, perhaps we have a terminology/definitions issue.
