Eh, Levenger has good sales. Now, if you were carrying Louis Vuitton, then SCs have the right to be skeptical about your "need" for a job.

I drive a Mercedes Benz that I inherited from my dad when he passed away. Before that I drove an old Camry, as a grad student should, and was reluctant to accept the gift from my mom. I am driving to all my interviews and fear the selection committee will notice my car and judge me for it. :-/

Personal opinion, don't apologize for it, but if someone notices it or says something, just say its a lovely car and you inherited it from your Dad.  I don't know how many people with a MB, BMW, Range Rover, or Jag has said something like "It really was not that expensive" when I noticed or mentioned the car (in a nice way).  Like I was judging them.  They end up just sounding silly.

It is a lower-end Mercedes and not as flashy as some, but I still find myself feeling like I have to apologize for it. Thanks for the thoughts; I just hate to bring up my dad's death at an interview. The one-year anniversary is next week, and I don't want to get myself worked up at an interview.

Sorry for the threadjack.

I understand your point (and my condolences on the anniversary), but if you said you "inherited" the car from your Dad, my first thought would be that your Dad gave you his old car, not that he passed and you got the car.

I know it sounds that way, and I feel like it makes me seem like a spoiled brat if my dad bought me a Benz. Haha.
