Post Campus Interview Contact

I got an email from a member of the SC asking for access to one of my publications (on a topic related to my job talk, but not my writing sample). Of course I obliged, but now I'm wondering if it means anything. It seems a little late in the game to be requesting additional materials, so perhaps it's more personal interest on his part. My hopeful side wants to believe that I'm still in the running (the request came after the last candidate came to campus) and perhaps their top choice so please provide a reality check! Is this an unusual request at this stage?

You can't read anything into this, so stop trying. Honestly.

I had something similar happen to me last week, but the article was on a markedly different topic than my writing samples and research talk. I'm a historian who works on the early modern period but also writes on contemporary issues/popular culture/cultural studies, and he asked for an article I published in the later field. I always take it as a good sign if someone wants to read my work. I of course sent it (rapidly and cheerfully), and am doing my best to not attempt divination from this request.
I know how hard it is, though! Hang in there! They certainly wouldn't have asked if repelled by you as a scholar.
